Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Lowell, WI.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for clients in Lowell struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed facilities and doctors are certified to dispense specific meds to opioid addicted individuals, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. With low enough doses however, the individual does not experience high feelings and also doesn't experience intense cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is about $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around $300.00 per month for the generic of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
