When an individual in Mauston needs substance abuse treatment but doesn't have health insurance or the funds to pay for the recovery program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to look into. ATR is a federally-funded program which makes it possible for individuals to access addiction treatment programs and services including inpatient programs, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, continuing care, counseling, recovery and life coaching, skills building, vocational training, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to acquire treatment and recovery support services for substance use disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR clients must meet certain requirements, including: 1) be at least 18 years of age, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have a yearly income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's initial choice of program or facility isn't working out, they can consult with their ATR coordinator to find one that is and that accepts the ATR.
