Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Monroe, WI.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for people in Monroe battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to give certain meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based also and are habit forming. With low enough doses however, the user does not experience high feelings but also doesn't experience severe cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this sole purpose, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone which can only be administered in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately three hundred dollars /month for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and is priced approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
