Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Ballard, WV.

One of the out-patient rehab options for individuals in Ballard who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to dispense specific medications to opioid addicted people, many that are opioid-based also and are addictive. With low amounts the client does not experience high feelings and also does not experience severe cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this sole purpose, but there are other options to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the drug, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone that can only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about $300 a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opioids. An individual consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
