Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Four States, WV.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for individuals in Four States who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to give specific medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioids themselves and are habit forming. With low doses however, the client doesn't experience being high and also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this sole purpose, but there are alternative choices to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is around one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be dispensed in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about $300 monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. An individual taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
