The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, members of the military can acquire substance abuse rehabilitation services in Lewisburg. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehab services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detox are restricted to no more than 7 days. Partial hospitalization or impatient treatment following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved facility, and there are time restrictions as to how long military insurance carriers are allowed to stay in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically accepted. Additionally, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which take place on an outpatient basis.
