Naltrexone is an additional med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
