Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Fort Bridger, WY.

One of the outpatient treatment options for clients in Fort Bridger battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to administer specific meds to opioid addicted individuals, many of which are opioids themselves and are addiction. In low amounts the client does not experience being high but also doesn't experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this sole purpose, but there are a few more choices currently to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the drug, that is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about $300.00 per month for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and costs approximately $450 /month. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 /month.
