It is estimated that around 75% of clients at residential treatment programs for drug and alcohol addiction are smokers. While it is a fact that nicotine is an addictive substance and people in any sort of treatment for addiction should strive to be abstinent from all addictive substances, this can introduce problems that make enforcing a non-smoking facility outweigh the advantages of such restrictions.
