So therefore, there is a definite need for a variety of service types to provide services for all of the very unique requirements of this client demographic, including addiction rehabilitation programs in native languages.
One of the problems that American Indian and Alaska Natives in Diomede face is access to effective services, particularly those who reside in rural regions. Facilities offering drug and alcohol rehab services in rural regions often are not capable of offering support designed to meet the needs and demands of this distinctive group of people including addiction rehabilitation services in their native language. American Indian and Alaska Native clients can work with elders and stakeholders involved in mental health services for their region or tribe to find out which types of treatment services are available to them and through which facilities, and which will be most effective for their scenario. There have been many grants sanctioned in recent years to cover these types of services for American and Alaska Native clients, which have very effective recovery programs which provide evidence based treatment that also integrates culturally sensitive treatment services including those in their language which are provided by bi-lingual staff members.
