Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health benefits for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various forms of treatment.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications needed for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
