There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which reverses the effects of opiates. A person taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 /month. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
