Short Term Addiction Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Alberta, AL.

Short Term drug and alcohol rehab is a term used for addiction treatment that does not last long and usually lasts anywhere from 14 to 30 days in either an inpatient or residential rehab facility. Because rehabilitation is so short, it is an ideal option cost-wise and for people who can't commit to long-term rehab.

Most short-term drug rehab centers in Alberta have group and individual counseling and psychotherapy which in the context of addiction treatment is essentially relapse prevention. Because of the short time allowed for treatment services, most clients will need to experience full detoxification before beginning treatment services. One of the disadvantages of treatment at a short-term drug and alcohol rehabilitation program is that many clients may still be experiencing the beginning phases of withdrawal and may be more unfocused than someone who has stabilized and detoxed completely. This can make rehabilitation within the timeframe much more challenging, as people may be physically uncomfortable and moody and experiencing intense cravings.

Relapse rates are greater with people who only receive short term treatment as opposed to long term. Individuals who participate in short term alcohol and drug rehabilitation and then transition into an intensive outpatient program or day rehabilitation program have more of a chance of maintaining their sobriety, because they will maintain a support system while they progress in their new sober lifestyle.
