Partial hospitalization/Day Treatment is a kind of out-patient addiction treatment program that is just below intensive outpatient and more intensive than normal out-patient rehabilitation. Partial Hospitalization Day Treatment is also tailored to clients who require intensive rehabilitation for a dual-diagnosis disorder, but do not need twenty-four hour supervision and treatment. For a client who has completed inpatient rehab, a partial hospitalization day treatment plan in Axis could help them transition more easily into a drug-free way of life as a viable "step-down" option. After partial hospitalization day treatment, the individual could then transition over to regular out-patient treatment.
When a client is in a partial hospitalization day treatment program, they commonly take part in services anywhere from 3-5 days per week. It is like an inpatient treatment program in many significant ways, including the fact that clients will get access tomental health professionals, physicians and nurses who can address the psychological, emotional, and physical issues they are trying to conquer. For at least four to six hours on the days that clients attend partial hospitalization day treatment, the clients will get individual addiction therapy, psychotherapy services, participate in group counseling, receive any required medical care and address any of the mental health symptoms that trigger their alcohol and drug addiction.
