DWI clients in rehab need specific requirements met to satisfy the conditions of their court sentencing. Rehab programs that help satisfy these requirements and conditions, which are usually far more lenient than traditional sentencing which would include steep fines and incarceration, are offered in Equality to deliver DWI classes, therapy, and further evaluation for clients with serious drug or alcohol problems.
Drug and Alcohol Education is a fundamental tool used at rehab programs treating DWI offenders. There are a few different levels of alcohol education classes and this can differ by state. Level I education usually consist of 12 hours of group education about the effects and dangers of alcohol and drugs. This is the what someone with a single conviction or someone under 21 will commonly be required to do. Level II classes would include both education and therapy in a court approved program. How long a client will have to remain in therapy depends upon a few factors, which can be, for example, how many DWI's the offender has had, and the seriousness of the violation. Ordinarily, individuals will be required to take the Level II classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol level was extremely low when they were arrested and there weren't any other significant charges when the individual was arrested.
