Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Parrish, AL.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation alternatives for people in Parrish struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some clinics and doctors are certified to dispense certain meds to opioid dependent clients, many that are opioid-based also and are addictive. In low amounts however, the user doesn't experience high feelings but also doesn't experience severe cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this reason, but there are a few more choices to select from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to dispense the med, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be dispensed in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is about $300.00 per month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opioids. Someone taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced about $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
