Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
