The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to non-military health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary doctor and obtain referrals to organizations that provide specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, members of the military can acquire substance abuse treatment services in El Dorado. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various rehabilitation services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some restrictions. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are restricted to no more than 7 days.
