Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Lamar, AR.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation options for clients in Lamar who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to administer specific meds to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioids also and are addictive. In low doses the client doesn't feel high and also doesn't experience severe cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first medication used for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient clinic certified to dispense the drug, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is around $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be dispensed in structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opioids. A person consuming this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced around $450 per month. Naltrexone is an additional med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents an individual from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
