Halfway House - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - State University, AR.

When an individual has overcome drug or alcohol addiction, it isn't as simple as resuming where you left off. Getting back to a positive and happy life takes time and a lot of determination. A Halfway House, also known as a Sober Living Facility, is a setting where people in recovery can go where they can live in a sober and positive setting until they are able to live confidently on their own. Living in a Halfway House may be a requirement of a person's probation or parole for example, or someone might decide to live in a Halfway House of their own accord following drug or alcohol treatment. In either case, residents of a Halfway House are clean and sober and striving to do what is necessary to get their lives back on track. This could mean finishing school, finding employment, etc.

Halfway Houses in State University are operated by people who in many cases were once occupants of the house. The duration a person is permitted to remain at the Halfway House can vary, but it's usually anywhere from a month to a couple of years. Occupants are required to submit to alcohol and drug testing before entering the house, and this testing will take place intermittently to be certain there is not any substance use in the house or addiction issues that would be more adequately dealt with in a drug or alcohol treatment facility.
