Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Wilmot, AR.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for clients in Wilmot struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to give specific meds to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. With low enough doses the user doesn't feel high but also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med tried for this purpose, but there are a few more options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic licensed to dispense the med, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300.00 monthly for the generic of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and costs approximately $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
