Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Kirkland, AZ.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for clients in Kirkland battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to administer certain meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based also and are addiction. With low amounts the individual does not experience being high but also doesn't experience acute cravings and isn't in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this sole purpose, but there are alternative choices to pick from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to dispense the drug, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around $300 per month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med that blocks the effects of opiates. An individual taking this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced around $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 a month.
