When a person in Many Farms needs drug or alcohol rehab but doesn't have private health insurance or the funds to pay for the rehab program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for individuals to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient programs, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, counseling, continuing care, recovery and life coaching, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to purchase rehabilitation and recovery support services for substance use disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must meet certain requirements, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is less than 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can contact ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's initial choice of treatment or rehab center isn't working out, they can consult with their ATR coordinator to locate one that best fits their needs and that accepts the ATR.
