Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Show Low, AZ.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for clients in Show Low who are struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are authorized to administer specific meds to opioid addicted people, many that are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. In low enough doses however, the user does not experience high feelings but also does not have intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this purpose, but there are alternative choices to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the med, which is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The cost of the med is around $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken one day on, one day off. But different from Methadone that can only be dispensed in structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars monthly for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a med which blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
