Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Sierra Vista, AZ.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for individuals in Sierra Vista who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to give specific meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioids also and are addictive. With low doses the individual does not feel high but also does not experience acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med administered for this purpose, but there are other options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an outpatient clinic licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The price of the drug is approximately $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is around $300.00 a month for the generic version of the drug. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opiates. Someone taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 per month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
