Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse.
