Regular outpatient treatment is usually a less costly alternative to more comprehensive outpatient centers or inpatient treatment, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Freedom. Some people are attending treatment for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and commitment to time wise and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. For some, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient center such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular outpatient treatment options usually include individual and group counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Programs that offer a more diverse array of services may include psychotherapies (behavioral therapy) to assist with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. How long a client remains in recovery can vary, and a person's improvement can be judged occasionally and an extension of rehab can be recommended contingent upon these findings.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation facility may be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is dealing with a severe drug and alcohol problem and has never experienced treatment before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient rehabilitation.
