Inpatient drug rehab, also sometimes called residential drug rehab, is a recovery method for people that need to get out of their environment and receive very comprehensive treatment. Inpatient treatment in Sequoia National Park typically lasts anywhere from 30 days to several months, and some rehab centers provide both short and long term treatment options. Some inpatient facilities are prepared to provide both drug free and medically assisted detoxification services, but some only treat people who have already been detoxed at a detox facility prior to arrival.
Within an inpatient residential drug rehab, it is similar to a small community of clients and staff who are working together through the course of recovery. Rehab staff do a thorough assessment of the individual's needs, and a rehabilitation strategy is developed that will include therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, holistic treatment, etc. dependent upon what rehabilitation method the program is using. Some inpatient programs implement the 12 steps, whereas others apply a more evidence based approach, which may include more advanced therapies and psychotherapies.
Inpatient drug rehab also minimizes many of the risks associated with relapse, since the person is continually supervised in a drug and alcohol free setting, and won't be tempted by any of the friends or drug dealers who influenced, supported or enabled their drug use.
