Young adults within the ages of 18 and 24 are provided substance abuse treatment programs built specifically for this age group. The most comprehensive treatment available for young adults is at an inpatient treatment facility in Como which delivers a wider range of services than outpatient programs. Addiction issues and co-occurring mental health disorders can be worked on concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have therapists or psychologists on staff to treat co-occurring disorders.
Young adults attending treatment programs which specifically treat their age group benefit from having the peer support on hand and the empathy of rehabilitation staff who are commonly skilled and knowledgeable at treating these youths.
The length of rehabilitation can vary for young adult recovery facilities, and this is often determined based off the individual's progression throughout the treatment process. The more serious the issue is, the longer it may be suggested that the young adult stays in treatment. If outpatient rehab is the only treatment option available, this too should be thorough enough to meet the client's needs. For instance, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to participate in therapy and counseling a couple of times per week, and there are programs which require daily attendance.
