Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering various forms of care.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient addiction treatment, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but policy holders will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for 190 days of inpatient care total, as in during the individual's lifetime.

People who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications associated with treating drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
