If a person in Greenwich needs substance abuse treatment but doesn't have health insurance or the funds to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an option to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for individuals to access addiction treatment programs and services including inpatient, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, continuing care, counseling, recovery and life coaching, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to acquire rehabilitation and recovery support services for addiction disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR clients must fulfill certain requirements, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance abuse and addiction, 3) have a yearly income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If someone's initial choice of program or rehab center isn't working out, they can work with their ATR coordinator to find one that best fits their needs and that accepts the ATR.
