There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opiates. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
