Naltrexone is an additional drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience high feelings from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
