SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Hockessin, DE.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Hockessin are programs that are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
