The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
