The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
