The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families receive health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides benefits for retired military who are 60 or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is an option available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which provides access to civilian health care providers within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol treatment services in Pensacola. This encompasses detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other various recovery services. They will need pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are restricted to no more than 7 days.
