The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people.
