SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Lula, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Lula are programs which are officially permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
