SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Union Point, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Union Point are programs who are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
