SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Haleiwa, HI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Haleiwa are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was given.
