Because drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health disorders are found at above average rates among Vets, it is important that they get the essential help they need because of such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders with Veterans.
Drug and alcohol abuse facilities for Veterans in Honolulu are available from the VA, with included services such as efforts to address associated problems such as relationship problems, irritability, disturbed sleep, pain, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which most commonly trigger addiction disorders among Vets. Rehabilitation for addiction and related disorders among Military Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies which can increase an individual's desire to change. Involvement in other support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also used in some instances to help Veterans lessen their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
