SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Kaaawa, HI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Kaaawa are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
