SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Lahaina, HI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Lahaina are programs that are officially permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
