SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Naalehu, HI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Naalehu are programs that are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
