SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Wake Island, HI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Wake Island are programs that are officially allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
