Medicare is a federal health insurance program which helps pay for health care for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For people who do have Medicare and need substance abuse treatment in Des Moines, this program can pay for certain rehab programs and treatment services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain forms of treatment.

Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A pays for inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and up to 60 days in rehab without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, this applies to the individual's lifetime.

Individuals who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for drug and alcohol withdrawal as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
