There are recovery programs offered in or near Le Grand that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs which are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone and buprenorphine clients take these medications daily so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but hopefully at a dose which isn't at the same time causing them to feel high. Euphoria is possible at a high dosage, more significantly with methadone than buprenorphine. At programs which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are generally limited beyond managing the medication and the main treatment objective is to treat the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do provide a limited amount of counseling and therapy as secondary treatment, and this is encouraged.
