Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
