The military currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard provides insurance benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they go to any non-military health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay an annual deductible and coinsurance, as well as any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all eligible family members, and with this they can choose a primary doctor and get referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.
By way of TRICARE, military members can acquire drug and alcohol treatment services in Carbondale. This includes individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both inpatient and outpatient, but inpatient services for detoxification are limited to no more than 7 days.
